Alyssa

Alyssa used the potty today! She followed Ryan into the bathroom; I asked her if she wanted to use the potty. She said, "Uh huh." I took her diaper off and she sat on the little potty. I asked her if she could poop. She talked about "pooting" and then went! Then she stood up got some toilet paper and tried to wipe herself. We are very excited that she did it on her first try! Maybe I'll get lucky and have a potty trained 2 year old...probably getting a little ahead of myself :-)

Ryan's First Day of School!

It's a little hard to tell but I think Ryan did fine today. He definitely had a good time and didn't really want to leave. The note from his teacher said, "Ryan worked hard to follow directions." This is what I thought would be the biggest challenge for him in preschool so hopefully he was trying :) He brought home his first project. He made a little book of "kind words". He apparently enjoyed making the book but as I have experienced with him in the past he doesn't take pride in showing off his work yet. Ryan even had lunch bunch today, so he brought and ate his lunch with a small group of kids. Alyssa and I had a quiet morning to ourselves. Tomorrow Alyssa and I will be starting a toddler music class while Ryan is at school.

Here are a few more pictures from this morning:

Afternoon "Camping"

On Sunday we realized that is was a nice day and we had no real plans. After a quick discussion with Nana, we decided to take their RV to a nearby park for the afternoon. The kids had a ton of fun. The first thing they did was go into the lake (yes it is gross and it was in the low 70's and no we were not prepared for swimming). So Ryan was running around in his underwear and Alyssa had one of those super bloated diapers going on. I had brought other clothing but not extra t-shirts...so they wore their zip up shirts instead. The kids played for a long time on the park equipment, we went for a short walk, and then we grilled out. It was a lovely day!
